Here we preview a new unique designed watch from Don Kylne & Co watches. The company has produced some prototypes and plan to launch on Indiegogo(We will post a link once it goes live) in the near future. Don Kylne watch was started by a bunch of guys that ran their own businesses away from their hometowns for a large part of their lives. The principles the company follows are life, modern, classic designs and the best quality.

Drawing from life, life is not fair or square and neither is it a smooth circle. The cushion case represents the ups and downs of life. The second hand is placed in a corner, symbolising how time passes us by, unconsciously slipping out of our grasp. The company inject a modern touch into a well loved classic template. The Don Kylne &Co. Watch was made with quality in mind with quality materials that last for generations.

The Don Kylne &Co. features a 40.5mm case, Domed Scratch Resistant Sapphire Crystal, Automatic Miyota 82xx series movement, 50m water resistance, 22mm Leather Strap and Genuine Leather Custom Selected Strap with Butterfly Deployant Clasp. The watch will also feature Custom Designed Flower Motiff Engraving for customers that choose this option.

Rêveurs Comme Nous collection is only engraved in our first collection. The phrase means dreamers like us. Once this project is successfully funded, it would mean you would have helped make our dreams into reality. Therefore this phrase will only be engraved for this first collection and never repeated. Thus, making this first collection more valuable in future.

The pricing will be around $300USD early bird on Indiegogo with a retail price of $450USD. Each watch to be individually numbered from 001-500.

I am always on the lookout for an affordable diver that offers a lot for the money. Van Speyk, a brand that I first learn about from Watchuseek in 2012 has a new diver being released to the market.

Before we get started with the new diver watch, let look at a little history of the brand. Van Speyk watches is named after Jan Carel Josephus van Speyk, a Dutch national hero.

In the Golden Age the current Kingdom of the Netherlands occupied a global perch in terms of Trade, Science, Art and Military Power (especially at sea). This period of time formed an important part of the foundation of the wealth, both economically and culturally, that we in present time Netherlands find ourselves in.

Economic decline and turbulent years is what The Netherlands in the 18th century had to endure. Amidst this social rumble Jan Carel Josephus van Speyk was born in Amsterdam on the 31st of January, 1802. Although educated as a tailor, Van Speyk was fascinated by the adventures that go with the life of a sailor. He followed his heart and in the years that followed, he became a marine lieutenant and conducted many naval trading- and combat missions across the globe and even acquired the “ridderkruis der vierde klasse van de Militaire Willems-Orde”; the Dutch equivalent of the Medal of Honor.

On the 5th of February 1831, Van Speyk (29) became a Dutch national hero when he headed for the Antwerp harbor in Belgium to examine shiploads. A year prior, the Belgium Revolution led to the dissolution of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands and the proclamation of an independent Belgium. Upon arrival in Antwerp, a furious party of Antwerp workmen boarded Van Speyk’s gunboat “No.2”. Van Speyk then spoke the legendary phrase: “…and going down in history as an infamous Dutchman? I rather blow this ship and myself to smithereens, than surrender”. By throwing a lit cigar into a barrel of gunpowder in the ships armory, the ship exploded. Van Speyk did not survive his act. Because of his reluctance to comply and as a result of his display of devotion to his flag, he is considered an important hero in the history of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. He inspirited the Dutch civilians.

Today, more than two centuries hereafter, we follow our hearts in the spirit of Jan Carel van Speyk by manufacturing these splendid Van Speyk watches. Van Speyk precisely unifies the feeling of a majestic Dutch history and our national pride. A watch brand with an international allure, as well as an undeniable Dutch identity.

Now that we learned a little history of the brand, let look at the specs of the new Van Speyk Dutch Diver. The Dutch Diver features a reliable Miyota 8215 automatic movement along with a 42mm Sandwich dial case made of stainless steel. The dive watch also features a sapphire crystal, unidirectional bezel, 200M water resistance and a screw down crown. The watch features SuperLuminova on the hands and hour markers. The bracelet is stainless steel with brushed and polished links to offer a sophisticated classic look.

Plug & Feather watch company is bringing beautiful stone dial watches to the market. This is the first time I have seen a watch company utilize stone faces in a watch in such as unique way.

Specs
Stainless Steel 316L case
Solid Stainless Steel 316L band
Sapphire Crystal
Japanese Miyota movement
50 meter water resistance
Stainless Steel Tri-Fold Clasp
Designed in Santa Monica, California, USA
Assembled in Hong Kong

The company sourced stones (ex. Carnelian, Snowflake Obsidian) that are beautiful and come from exotic places all over the world (ex. Siberia, China, Chile). Plug & Feather has gone through several prototypes to make sure the faceplate made of stone is thin enough to fit in the watch while still stable enough to not fracture or crack once within the watch.

The company has 5 unique stone face watches in it’s collection ready for preorder staring December 1st on Kickstarter. The dials include stone made from Sodalite, Charoite, Obsidian, Carnelian and Cloud Jasper.

Plug & Feather Stone Watches is bringing something innovative and unique to the watch world and I am excited to see this company succeed. P&F is based out of Santa Monica California and was founded in 2013.

The Plug & Feather Stone Watches are two years in the making and finally bringing these watches from the prototype stage into final production. On December 1st you can preorder the stone watches with Kickstarter. Check out the official site HERE for more details.
