I love a great watch but I also love a great value. The Bernhardt Binnacle Anchor is a watch that looks great and has a retail price that is unmatched in the watch world. Bernhardt is a brand I found on WatchUSeek like many other watch enthusiasts. The brand is well regarded for its excellent timepieces at affordable prices.
The Bernhardt Binnacle Anchor is presented in a nice wooden box which is a step above the other brands that ship in cardboard boxes. The overall presentation in the signature wooden box is top notch and perfect for gift giving. The watch comes with a two year warranty that is also transferable. The watch is limited to 500 and mine is marked 344/500.
The Binnacle Anchor is very versatile that I can see you wearing it with a suit as well as Polo shirt and jeans. The watch face is 40mm which makes it not too big or too small for my average size wrists. The Anchor has often compared to the Rolex Explorer while still having its own identity.
The Anchor uses the workhorse movement Miyota 8215 automatic movement. I owned several Swiss Made watches and can say that the Japanese Miyota holds it’s own against the Swiss ETA movements. The Sapphire Crystal is less prone to scratching than the Hardlex and Mineral glass that you will find in Seiko and Citizen watches at the same price. The bracelet is one of the nicest bracelets I have seen on a watch using top notch 316-L surgical stainless steel. The bracelet also uses screws to remove links which is normally found on higher priced watches. The 200 meters water resistant is not something you would find on a sporty dress watch.
At only $259 you will look a lifetime to find a better value of watch with this amount of features the Binnacle Anchor has. Fred Amos the owner of Bernhardt Watch Company provides amazing customer service which is the top of my list when I purchase a product. The Bernhardt Binnacle Anchor is the perfect watch to add to your collection and one that will see plenty of wrist time in my collection of watches.

Projects Watches is a watch brand that makes architectural watches and their latest watch the Time-is-Short is one that will catch your eye right away. The watch was designed by Ran Lerner who is an award winning, prolific and accomplished Industrial designer.
The Time-is-Short watch measures 40mm (1.57″) in diameter and 8.8mm (0.35″) high. It is made of brushed stainless steel and comes with a 20mm black silicone band. I am a fan of unique watches and the Time-is-Short watch is certainly that. The watch at 40mm is the perfect size with it not being too big or small.
Time-is-Short Watch is a concept that is real not like those X-Ray glasses you would find in the back of comic books. At one glance the watch appears to show a hand with a wristwatch on it. A short time later will a flick of the wrist the watch show an x-ray image of the same hand.
Time-is-Short is a watch that will stand out in the crowd. Project Watches makes some unique and interesting visual art watches and the Time-is-Short watch is one that will get some attention.

Bernhardt is well known in the watch community for great value in watches. The Sea Shark now updated to the Binnacle Diver is the flagship diver watch from Bernhardt Watch Company. An interesting factoid is that the watch was designed by Bernhardt Founder Fred B. Amos son Philip when he was only 12 years old. Here I will review the Bernhardt Sea Shark Green.
Miyota 8215 automatic movement
316-L surgical stainless steel
Stainless steel bracelet with screws
200 meters water resistance
Super Luminova on hands and indices
2 year warranty
Design: When it comes to design I think the Bernhardt looks very original compared to the competition. I have seen a lot of Micro Brands sell Submariner and Omega homage’s while Bernhardt has come out with a striking original design. The watch has a scratch resistant Sapphire Crystal, a stainless steel bracelet with screw in links, 200M WR, and Miyota 8215 movement. The watch looks like a nice compromise from a tool watch and a sporty dive watch. I have no problems wearing the Sea Shark with jeans and polo shirt as well as a button down shirt. The 42mm size is the perfect balance of size that it will not look to big or too small on all types of wrists. The signature tool dial comes in 5 different colors. When you hear about Bernhardt it is usually followed by your getting a lot for the money and this is very true.
Movement: The Miyota 8215 is a solid movement that is a workhorse. I have owned several Swiss Made ETA 2824-2 and the accuracy is comparable.
Customer Service: Fred B. Amos is known for providing legendary customer service. If you read the watch forums you will know that Mr. Amos stands by his watches and offers a great 2 year warranty.
Resale Value: When you buy a Rolex people say you made an investment. I can tell you that I purchased several second hand Bernhardt watches and sold them for more than I purchase them for. The reason Bernhardt hold great resale value is great price, excellent customer service and a watch that looks like it cost double or triple the retail price.
The Bernhardt Sea Shark (Binnacle Diver) is the best diver watch for under $300. While I am reviewing the discontinued Sea Shark the new Binnacle Diver features better lume. All I can say is if you have never owned a Bernhardt you are missing out on one of the best dive watches on the market today. You can purchase the Bernhardt Binnacle Diver from Bernhardt HERE
Out of all the Micro Brand watch companies I own Bernhardt is a brand that I will continue to buy. Bernhardt makes a great looking watch that looks like you spent $500-$1000 when you spent much less. Take for example the beautiful crafted Bernhardt Corsair. The Corsair is basically the Binnacle Diver with Swiss ETA 2836-2 movement.
The original Corsair was only available in yellow. I own the white version which was part of the next 100 watches made. The Bernhardt Corsair version 2 sold for $369 and came with either a white, gray, yellow or blue dial. The Corsair features 42mm face without crown, Sapphire Crystal, Swiss ETA movement 2836-2 movement, water resistance of 200 meters, solid end links, solid links, screws for sizing.
Bernhardt Corsair is a great watch for the money. The Swiss Movement with a less than $400 retail price makes it a very compelling watch. With not many white dial divers I think the Corsair is a nice piece to add to the collection. In addition Bernhardt has outstanding customer service and 2 year warranty.
The Bernhardt Corsair is currently unavailable but you may find one in the preowned market on Ebay or WatchUseek. You may also look at the Binnacle Diver which uses the same casing and bracelet.
